02.11 - Physicians’ Institute receives CME Accreditation with Commendation

Atlanta, GA - The Physicians’ Institute for Excellence in Medicine has received the highest level of accreditation, “Accreditation with Commendation,” as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.  Awarded by the Medical Association of Georgia, through an external review team, (MAG), the accreditation term will run through February 28, 2017.

Accreditation seeks to assure both physicians and the public that continuing medical education activities provided by The Physicians’ Institute meet the high standards of the essential areas, elements and policies for accreditation as specified by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and MAG. MAG is recognized by the ACCME to accredit organizations that have primarily an intrastate CME mission.

“On average, less than 10 percent of ACCME-accredited providers receive the highest rating of Accreditation with Commendation,” said Bob Addleton, executive vice president for The Physicians’ Institute.  “It is wonderful to receive this validation recognizing our CME program.  We look forward to continuing our commitment to providing the best possible CME programming.”

As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) subsidiary of the Medical Association of Georgia, the Physicians’ Institute develops and manages regional and national educational programs, resources and applied projects to support physicians’ efforts to improve the effectiveness of their practice.  The mission of the Physicians’ Institute is to improve patient safety and achieve clinical improvements for physicians, members of the healthcare team, and their patients.

This accreditation designation is the culmination of an intensive reaccreditation process that included a self-study report, evidence of performance-in-practice and an accreditation interview conducted by physician and CME professional reviewers.
