The Physicians' Institute for Excellence in Medicine is soliciting applications for their 2008 e-Technology Award. This award was created to recognize Georgia physicians who have implemented electronic medical record (EMR) technology solutions in their private practice. The intent is to showcase replicable, innovative technology solutions that demonstrate a positive impact on clinical practice.
The Physicians' Institute will recognize up to five Georgia physician practices that have implemented a successful EMR in their offices and will be presented a plaque at the Medical Association of Georgia Board of Directors meeting on October 3, 2008 in Atlanta.
Award categories:
Primary care with categories of 1-3 physicians, 4-9 physicians and 10+ physicians
Specialty care with categories of 1-9 physicians and 10+ physicians
Who is eligible?
All physician-owned private practices are eligible to participate, except for current board members of the Physicians' Institute or previous national or Institute health technology awardees. If your practice has implemented an EMR that successfully addressed a patient care or clinical process challenge, please submit an application.
Application Deadlines and Process:
Applications will be accepted from June 1-August 15, 2008 and winners will be notified by August 31th.

Criteria for Evaluation:
Judges include physicians from practices in Georgia that have been awarded the prestigious national Davies Award from HIMSS. The Physicians' Institute e-Technology Awards are supported by a grant from the Physicians' Foundation for Health Systems Excellence.
The Physicians' Institute is a non-profit subsidiary of the Medical Association of Georgia.
