Improving the Primary Care Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation – Funded by Bristol-Myers Squibb/Pfizer Partnership

The mission of The Evolution of Anticoagulation Management (TEAM) initiative is to reduce stroke, pulmonary embolism, and other complications associated with thrombus formation through effective continuing education that results in optimal anticoagulation management. As part of this national initiative, the Physicians’ Institute’s is supporting and managing up to 20 CME grants targeting primary care physicians and their teams.

PAVE – Partnership for Adult Vaccination and Education – Funded by GlaxoSmithKline

The mission of the Partnership for Adult Vaccination and Education (of which the Physicians’ Institute is a member) is to increase the number of eligible persons who receive all of the adult vaccines currently recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The Physicians’ Institute’s is supporting eight educational initiatives.

Pain Management for AHME members only – Supported by Pfizer, Inc.

The Association of Hospital Medical Education (AHME) developed an initiative entitled, ” Approaches to Improve Pain Management – An AHME CME Quality and Patient Safety Initiative.” AHME is partnering with the Physicians’ Institute for Excellence in Medicine in the administration of the grants.

Achieving Meaningful Use – Funded by the Physicians’ Foundation for Health Systems Excellence

The Physicians’ Institute is continuing with educational activities relating Meaningful Use Stage 2 for Georgia physicians and their teams. Meaningful Use criteria is linked to quality of care and is a means to qualify for incentive payments.
