Robert L. Addleton Ed.D.
Executive Vice President

Robert L. Addleton, EdD is Executive Vice President of the Physicians' Institute for Excellence in Medicine, a 501(c)(3) subsidiary of the Medical Association of Georgia. Previously, he was Director of Education for the Medical Association of Georgia from 1998 to 2007. Before joining MAG, he was an organizational development consultant specializing in hospital-based Performance Improvement programs. Previous employment included positions in healthcare and academia. He holds a doctorate from the University of Alabama (Educational Leadership), an Educational Specialist degree (Counselor Education) from Appalachian State University, a Master's in Education (Rehabilitation Counseling) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia.

Bob is very active in continuing medical education organizations at the local, regional, and national level. A recipient of the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education's President's Award and Distinguished Member Award, he is a frequent speaker at conferences throughout the United States, and a consultant to organizations offering continuing medical education activities.

Adele Cohen
Senior Vice President for Grants and Operations

Adele Cohen is Senior Vice President for Grants and Operations at the Physicians' Institute for Excellence in Medicine, a 501(c)(3) subsidiary of the Medical Association of Georgia. She has more than 25 years experience with both corporate and not-for-profit health care organizations in roles of management, advocacy, teaching, and program development. Adele has worked extensively with interdisciplinary partnerships, including working with diverse groups, boards and advisory groups to develop and promote policy change and manage a variety of research, program and grant initiatives. Previously, she served as Executive Director of the Georgia Alliance for Tobacco Prevention, overseeing a Robert Wood Johnson grant, with a focus on promoting policy initiatives to reduce tobacco use in Georgia. In addition, she has had several years of experience teaching as an adjunct member of the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health faculty, focusing on health policy and advocacy educational courses. Adele has a Masters degree in Urban Studies from Georgia State University and is Board Certified in Healthcare Management with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Adele is active in health professional, health policy and medical education organizations. She has received a professional leadership award from the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a professional achievement award from the Georgia Chapter of Women Healthcare Executives.

Chrystel Tano
Program Assistant

Chrystel Tano is Program Assistant at Physicians' Institute for Excellence in Medicine. She has more than 7 years of project management experience. Chrystel graduated from Clayton College & State University with a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management. Before Joining MAG, she worked for the American Red Cross South Metro Chapter in Morrow GA as Assistant to the Community Educator, where she was managing a program of medical assistance to school-aged children. Chrystel also has some experience in Web-editing and Marketing. As a Program Assistant at the Physicians' Institute, Chrystel assists the Vice President for Grants and Operations by supporting administration, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all Physicians' Institute programs, activities, and projects as well as coordinating and maintaining records for all CME activities.
