David Cook, MAG Executive Director

David Cook serves as the Executive Director of the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) and has held the CEO position since August of 2001. His affiliation with the Georgia General Assembly began in 1976, when he served as the Reading Clerk for the Georgia State Senate. From 1984 to 1990, he served as Legal Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee and later as Chief of Staff to State Sen. Nathan Deal after Sen. Deal was elected President Pro Tempore of the Georgia Senate. From 1992 through 1995, Mr. Cook moved to Washington to serve as Chief of Staff to U.S. Rep. Nathan. Deal during Mr. Deal's first two terms in Congress. Mr. Cook was the managing partner in the law firm of McGuire, Cook, & Martin, P.C. from 1983 to 1992 specializing in corporate law and contract litigation. He was also a Clinical Professor at the University of Georgia School of Law from 1982 to 1983 and a Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgia Southern University. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and a 1976 graduate of Georgia Southern University.
